Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is celebrating Saint Pete Pride Week by presenting an original comedy by T. Scott Wooten with musical selections by Michael Raabe.  The madcap pairing of Wooten and Raabe recently created local audience favorite productions of WIZARD OF OZ and BLOWN BY THE WIND.  This fun-filled evening will not only bring a smile to your lips but bring awareness and support to People who are suffering with HIV/AIDS.  All monies raised will benefit Metro Charities PWA (People With AIDS) programs and all performers are donating their time and talents to this good cause.

ALL ABOUT STEVE is based on the Bette Davis film, All About Eve where a star, at the height of her career is idolized by a younger actor, Steve (Scott Daniel) who gets to know her as her adoring assistant.  But something sinister is afoot(!) and the fellow show people are all egomaniacs who drift in and out of Margo Channing’s (Matt McGee) life. Can Steve be trusted?  Is Margo in love and enjoying her theatre success?  Who are these other people and what do they want from Margo?  And what’s all that singing about?  You don’t want to miss what happens next… especially with local all-star Matthew McGee at the helm!

Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness, provide assistance, and perpetuate a life of dignity for those affected and infected by HIV and AIDS.

1. HIV PREVENTION OUTREACH FACILITATOR

This position is responsible for providing an array of HIV prevention and harm-reduction services to people living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS including rapid HIV testing, group interventions, referrals, street outreach, and additional responsibilities as requested. TRAINING: DEVELOPING HOUSING for
HOMELESS PERSONS AND FAMILIES

All of you know how critical affordable housing is to exiting homelessness.   But do you know there is funding specifically for providing housing for people experiencing homelessness?  Most of the funding over the past 13 years has gone to Miami-Dade because organizations there applied for it.

 

It’s time for Hillsborough to get some of this funding.  To get involved, begin by attending this workshop.

Increasing the supply of affordable rental housing is a critical piece in ending homelessness, but what does it take to be a developer? How does the financing come together and how far in advance do you need to start? Do you need an experienced co-developer and what are the risk and rewards of developing this housing? * How the various funding sources are structured
* Property management
* The roles of service providers
* Asset management

Una Voce: The Florida Men’s Chorale has partnered with Equality Florida and its “Get Engaged” campaign to present “Stand by Me”… Una Voce’s Twelfth Anniversary spring concerts.  “Get Engaged” is tasked with spreading the word about the importance of the freedom to marry in Florida by equipping supporters with the tools needed to share personal stories about why marriage is important and matters to them.

“Stand by Me”…concerts featuring songs about the journeys we all travel hoping to find that one special person.

From dating to new relationships…from heartbreak to lifelong partnerships…our music will be celebrating all of the “ups” and consoling all of the “downs” of love. The Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House needs your help to open in 2014. Home Plate Pavers and limited edition cigar boxes are now available for purchase, which raises funds to rehabilitate the Al Lopez House and develop the exhibits to honor Tampa’s rich baseball heritage.

Help pave the way to preserve Tampa’s baseball heritage

Cement your love of the game in front of the Tampa Baseball Museum with an engraved paver in the shape of home plate.

 

Inscribe a personal message, memorialize a family member or signify a special occasion on a Home Plate Paver that will become a permanent fixture of the museum and be seen by thousands of visitors each year.

 

Only 140 pavers are available – secure yours today for $1,000. Pavers ordered by May 15 will be among the first placed in Home Plate Walk when installation begins in June.

CRAFT BEER FEST Weekend

Join Creative Loafing and 11 of the best craft breweries Tampa Bay has to offer for a daytime festival in Ybor Square on Saturday, April 19. Each brewery is bringing 2 brews for attendees to sample and enjoy!

Dear Ybor City Community Advisory Council Members:

 

On Thursday, June 5th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the Ybor City Campus President’s Community Advisory Council will hold its summer meeting in the Performing Arts Building’s Studio Theatre.   There will be short performances by students in our Drama and Dance programs.

 

The Council is designed to enhance open dialogue between the campus administration and the community-at-large and will focus on how the campus can support the community and how the community can support the campus. The meeting will include a tour of the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Buildings.   An agenda will follow closer to the meeting date as well as parking information.
