St. Pete Pride Celebrates 10 Years of Pride in Paradise
Thank you for your interest and continued support of St. Pete Pride, Florida’s Largest Pride Celebration!

Our annual Street Festival and Promenade is just around the corner and is expected to attract 90,000 – 120,000 people this year for our 10th Anniversary. In addition, we have events throughout the month of June leading up to our annual festival on June 30th and we hope that you will be a part of them again this year!

Nearly all of our sponsorships include booth space at the Street Festival, entry into the Promenade, ad space in our annual Pride guide and recognition on our website www.stpetepride.com which receives over 1,000,000 hits before the Pride festival each year. Our Pride Guide which can be viewed here has a distribution of 25,000 copies in Tampa Bay, Orlando, Sarasota and Wilton Manors, FL. The issue is released over a month before the festival and serves as a great marketing tool for your business year round. Nearly three-fourths (74%) of LGBT adults are likely to consider brands that support nonprofits and/or causes that are important to them as a LGBT person. Even in a struggling economy, LGBT consumers express an unmistakable and stronger sense of brand loyalty to companies that support their community. This requires companies to develop and maintain a trusting relationship by incorporating diversity, fairness and inclusion in its marketing plan.

Through our diverse range of sponsorship opportunities that range from $1,000 to $20,000, St. Pete Pride can help you deliver on that need. We will work to tailor our sponsorship packages to fit your unique needs and advertising goals

In addition, each year St. Pete Pride works to not only provide quality programs and events – many of which are free to the community, but also continues to give back to organizations like Suncoast Hospice, Metro Wellness & Community Centers, AIDS Walk St. Pete, ASAP, The Trevor Project, Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and many more through our community grant program, service programs and sponsorships.

We hope that you will consider supporting St. Pete Pride this year as a sponsor. You can view the sponsorship package by clicking here. And if you have not already done so, please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you soon and thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards,

Chris

Tampa Leaders Seek Equality: Pass the Domestic Partner Registry
A packed Tampa City Council Chambers last Thursday as the decision to put Tampa in the growing Florida cities adding Domestic Partner Registry Ordinance to the cities charter. Council Chairwoman Mulhern changed the agenda because of the large number of speakers on the ordinance in the chambers. Three dozen speakers added their reasons as to why this ordinance is needed. And probably another thirty outside the chambers stood. All for the right reasons! Explanations given to the council were for Tampa economics, Corporations relocations, partners medical rights, creating Tampa as A Great City, the right thing to do and in authorized emergencies situations taking care of your partners child at school.
The ordinance based after Orlando’s Domestic Partner Registry is a beginning. What it isn’t is exclusively for GLBT or Straights. The ordinance encompasses old & young, White, black or Hispanic, rich & poor, and healthy and disabled and challenged. A fair and equal law. And historical in nature too! The National TV Press, CNN showed clips and results of the Tampa hearing.
Tampa Councilman Harry Cohen said, “Over 900 phone calls, emails and correspondences came into the council chambers. Not One Was Negative or Against the Ordinance.” It is with the final passing at the April 5th Tampa City Council meeting that the further details will be explained . The ordinance should easily pass. Try to be there on this Historical Day!!!
Thank You to Tampa City Councilwoman Yolie Capin for your leadership in bringing this very equal and fair ordinance to the Tampa council. Your newly born grandson will be very proud of you! And Thank You Tampa Council Members for making Tampa the Great City that it is.

GaYBOR T-Dance is a HIT!!!!
Over 400+ people all gave the “1st T-Dance at Barbarella” Big Two Thumbs Up!!!! As you enter the main stage courtyard you are WOW’d as it has been transformed into a tropical oasis, that South Beach would copy! Inside the a/c as cool and the music HOT!  Up the grand staircase to the 5,000 sq ft roof top club. Fresh Air, Sunshine and HOT half naked bodies everywhere. Pouring adult beverages in the courtyard was familiar Tampa bartenders, Billy and Laval Rhone. The view of GaYBOR/ Ybor City was fantastic from the 100 ft long balcony over looking 7th Ave.  Up at the roof top club was Matt & the Famous Tea Cup!!! As the sun set the lights came on then up on the huge outdoor stage was Erika Jayne performing her #1 Billboard Hit, “Party People (Ignite the People).” Erika loves pink as it was in her costumes, backup dancers and the many confetti guns showering the t-dancers in pink confetti. A special thank you to Jack Garrett https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001390301180 who caught this great photo just as the confetti canons went off!!!  Coming up are Foam Parties & many more stars.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade in GaYBOR
The Roughriders St. Patrick’s Day Night Parade again was over the O’Top! We are pleased to have been invited for this traditional Ybor event. The GaYBOR Coalition had a wild group of revelers on the float and huge walking crew in the wild Green Beer and Green Leprechaun day. A diverse GaYBOR mix that showed the diversity in our community. An estimated crowd along the parade route was at over 50,000 in Ybor City. This is one of the best parades to participate in. We had plenty of great food, delicious beverages and acquainting with new members. The friendly crews had parties at each of their float sites. The weather was beautiful out. And everyone greeted each other as we walked along the O’ Happy Party Float street.120 groups participated this year. We all appreciated the Roughrider’s kindness and respect by their clapping, cheering and saluting to welcoming everyone in the festivities as we passed on our GaYBOR float.
The GaYBOR members bars expanded this year and included The Bricks, G.Bar, Czars, Liquid Tampa, Bradley’s On 7th, Ritz Ybor, Honey Pot, NY NY Pizza, King Corona, Hamburger Mary’s , Centro Cantina, Taboo Rise, JJ’s, Italian Club, La Terrazza, Bernini’s, Green Iguana, Gaspar’s Grotto, and Barbarella’s. All had full wall to wall houses! Also other GaYBOR Member stores and restaurants raised their glasses to us. This didn’t include all the balcony parties all along the parade route. Over 20 cases of beads were thrown from GaYBOR’s float!

MC Film Mail Bag & News….

East Lansing, MI, 40 Years GLBT Rights & 1st in Country
40 years in, few Michigan towns follow East Lansing’s lead on LGBT rights. Few people realize East Lansing, Mich., holds the distinction of having passed the first municipal gay rights ordinance in the U.S., but 40 years after that landmark achievement some local activists are surprised that much of the state still doesn’t protect LGBT citizens against discrimination. Just 18 Michigan municipalities have LGBT anti-discrimination laws, and advocates say the climate for LGBT Michiganders may be getting worse. Lansing State Journal (3/19)

Canada Warns Gay Travelers Over Russian Law Banning ‘Homosexual Propaganda’

The federal government has advised gay and lesbian travellers visiting St. Petersburg, Russia – a popular tourist destination – to take extra precaution in the wake of a new law in the city banning “homosexual propaganda.” Canada’s ambassador has written to the Russian government to express deep concern, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said. “We are all deeply concerned by this legislation that runs contrary to core Canadian values of freedom of speech, of human rights and the rule of law,” Baird said on Friday during question period.  www.BigGayNews.com

New York Gay Hotel Looks to Thriving LGBT Tourism

The OUT NYC Hotel boasts two hot tubs, a secret garden, its own nightclub, XL and the title of Manhattan’s first boutique hotel built specifically to cater to millions of gay tourists to New York. The hotel, not far from Times Square and Broadway theatres, also hopes to cater to the friends and families of its gay clientele. And so, turning an old concept on its head, the owners of the hotel like to describe it as “straight-friendly.”  www.BigGayNews.com

From the MC Film Mail Bag
Hello Mark & Carrie,

My name is Kindell Workman and I’m proudly serving as the president of the PRIDE Alliance at the University of South Florida. PRIDE stands for People Respecting Individual Diversity and Equality; we are the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) and Allied group on campus. We have weekly meeting every Thursday night and monthly events. Our membership roster is over 800 students.

This year we are hosting the Florida Collegiate Pride Conference and are expecting to have around 300 students from all over the state of Florida for the weekend of March 30th – April 1st. March 30th from 9pm-11pm we will be hosting a Tampa Bay showcase as part of the conference. We would like to invite your organization to come and be represented at our showcase. We want to show collegiate students just how LGBTQ friendly the Tampa Bay community is. We will be providing you a table where you can advertise, provide information, and even sell merchandise. Not only will we be advertising this event to the Conference but also the greater USF community, there will be live music and drinks provided as well.

If this is something that interest you or you have any questions please contact me at your earliest convenience. Please feel free to forward this on to anyone you think is interested, we would really like the whole GaYBORhood to be there!
