A new restaurant is revamping and opening in downtown area of Tampa as a new gay dinner spot. Metro Restaurant and Lounge on 511 N. Franklin Street opens its doors this weekend. Contemporary flair with a fabulous menu. New owners, Marc & Bill await your presence. Speaking of new restaurants and changes Luigi’s Cafe at the famous Don Vicente Historic Inn has started a new weekly featured lunch menu that beats the best. A Professor friend, Sharon Rose went with friends and ordered their lunch and they all had to reorder for take out to take home, it was that awesome! Former GaYBOR bar owner, John Gorman finished his medical schooling and has passed his state boards. Congratulations on your new venture John!
Sorry to hear that the new tech lounge and showbar, Mister Sisters closed in Orlando! A new For Rent sign went up at the old Blue Shark Bar and has come available on 7th Ave & 15th Street in GaYBOR next to Bradley’s on 7th!
Volunteers of all capacities are needed to help put up decorations for historic Ybor City Nov 20th at 11 AM meeting at the Reservoir Bar. 80 people in the past have helped in this fun 2 hour setup of garland and lights transforming 7th Ave. for the holidays. Art Pool Gallery is moving to to their new home at 2030 Central Ave in St. Petersburg beginning December 1st. Their annual “Wicked Winter Wonderland” an Art… Fashion… & Music Show is Dec. 10th, 8 – 12PM. www.artpoolgallery.com. National GOP Convention GLBT scouts were in Ybor City’s GaYBOR District scoping out great venue locations for the upcoming National GOP Convention in Tampa next August. A personal tour of the district was given welcoming the 50,000 Tampa mega event political representatives and planners. Deals are being made!!! Parties, Press, Meetings, Seminars, workshops and more.

Community Holiday Decorating Party.
Volunteers are needed to help decorate “Historic Ybor City with the Holiday Spirit”. Business around Ybor City have donated decorations to be placed around the district. Last year, more than 80 volunteers helped spread the Holiday Cheer.

Gateway Wreath and Decor Hanging

Art in the Park
Hosted by City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, the “2nd Annual Arts in the Park Festival” features artists from around the country along with the weekly Saturday market. More than $2,000 will be awarded to the artists for first, second, third and best of show cash prizes. Live Holiday performances will happen in and around Centennial park and Centro Ybor. GaYBOR Leaders Meet with Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor
The GaYBOR District Coalition Executive Board had a sit down “Meet & Greet” at Hamburger Mary’s with the top Tampa police officials, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor, Major Gerald Honeywell – District 3 Commander, Captain Keith O’Conner – F Sector Commander and Sean Mahabir –Ybor City Community Officer attended the get together.
“The chief always seems to have a friendly gleamy aura about her. With an open ear listening to ideas, possible changes and safety needs of Tampa’s community residents and businesses.” said Carrie West, GaYBOR President. ” The planned meeting brought together a GLBT scenario of working ideas and possible solutions, in helping maintain Ybor City’s safe west end entertainment district.”
Issues of the city parking garage, pan handling, parking lot safety and the upcoming GOP National Convention were talked about.The GaYBOR District along with Hampton Inn & Suites donated a fully equipped police bicycle to Tampa Police Dept in June for use in the historic Ybor district.
