Breaking News: LOGO TV’s Sawmill Anniversary Weekend starring RuPaul
…A Celebration of the First Anniversary of America’s First Gay Community
Thursday, April 5 – Monday, April 9, 2012
(Sawmill, Dade City, Florida 8:05 pm, January 25, 2012) It was announced today that the first Gay Community In America will host a major homecoming for their 50,000 members and guests from around Florida to celebrate the FIRST ANNIVERSARY of the NOT FOR PROFIT / 501c3 Sawmill Charities. This unique 120 acre community, half way between Tampa & Orlando will celebrate in a way rarely seen by the gay community. The highlight will include a one of a kind CONCERT by one of the world’s most popular are recognizable gay icons…RuPaul. Star of LOGO TV’s RuPaul’s Drag Race, the most watched gay television show in American history…Sawmill’s anniversary weekend hosts a rare concert by the TV Star. “We are excited that this is the first public concert announced in the United States” according to the Sawmill President, George Cressman. RuPaul has not had public live performances in Florida for many years and the Sawmill performance will be the first announced public performance in the USA after she returns from Australia for Gay Mardi Gras.
This is just one of many major events planned for the weekend including:
A-LIST NEW YORK Dance Party starring the cast of LOGO TV’s A-List. In conjunction with Gay Days & Parliament House DJ Brianna, stars from the A-LIST NEW YORK will host a high energy indoor/outdoor dance party. Principle hosts include RODNEY Santiago, DEREK Lloyd Saathoff, AUSTIN Armacost…among others.
GLENN DOUGLAS PACKARD’S BOOTS N BOYS will star in America’s 1st All-Gay Male Review on both Friday & Saturday nights. Brought to you by the star of VH-1’s BROOKE KNOWS BEST and Emmy nominated choreographer Glenn Douglas Packard, BOOTS N BOYS will open both A-LIST NEW YORK Dance Party and Saturday…GLAMAZON Dance Party with an exciting opening number and then performances throughout the parties.
1 GIRL 5 GAYS LIVE starring among others REICHEN Lehmkuhl winner of the CBS TV Amazing Race & star of A-List New York plus GLENN Douglas Packard star of VH-1’s Brooke Knows Best will re-create the USA’s first LIVE VERSION as a tribute to the wonderful LOGO TV show.
MIKE RUIZ FLORIDA MODEL SEARCH LIVE starring World Famous photographer Mike Ruiz from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, America’s Next Top Model, and of course A-LIST New York. The winning model from our LIVE SHOW will win a package that includes $1000 cash and a cover shoot for What’s Happening Magazine.
FLORIDA’S RuPaul’s DRAG RACE LIVE starring some of the most talented professional & amateur Drag Queens in Florida as they compete in a LIVE challenge version and performance as a tribute to the wonderful LOGO TV show and the supermodel of the world. The Queens will have a 24 hour challenge and then perform before the RuPaul Concert for $1000 cash plus a prize package.
GLAMAZON DANCE PARTY starring world renown Billboard producer & DJ Oren Nizri. The hottest indoor & outdoor dance party ever to celebrate the First Gay Community In America will take place Saturday night after the RuPaul Concert.

Bartender Melvin had a great surprise birthday party Sunday at Bradley’s on 7th. A packed bar of guests to be honest. Happy Birthday Melvin. A huge hit this past weekend was the ‘Dakotas’ Midwest Get Together’ on the balcony at Hamburger Mary’s. Local Dakotan residents met for the first time. We meet daily in our store people coming to live, relocated or are yearly visitors to Tampa. So Teacup set up a party at Mary’s to have a Meet n Greet for everyone from the Midwest. It was a blast and funny that 12 were from the same North Dakota city of Mandan and knew of the others when living in North Dakota but were never introduced until last Saturday. A wild time for the Tampa Bay Concierges Assoc. receiving a gift bag full of Ybor spots. They went on to touring Ybor City with eats, drinks and stops at Don Vicente Historic Inn, Liquid Lounge, Czar’s Zoya Hooka Lounge, Hamburger Mary’s, Bernini’s and lastly the Castle. The annual “Open Your Eyes to Ybor City” event was sponsored by Ybor City Development Corp. The weekend will be a very busy one with Gancho Circuit Party, Gasparilla Pirate Fest, Olivia’s 3000 All Women Cruise out of Tampa, a circus at Steam Fridays plus major VIPs visiting otherwise it’s just the fabulous regular routine of local exciting clubs and bar events. GaYBOR District will be packed! Another great super talent goes on to compete in Hollywood this week. Alissa Summers, headliner at Steam Fridays at the Honey Pot, is heading to Hollywood to compete in the upcoming Logo TV’s hot dragathon series, RUPAUl’s Drag Race Season 4. With a steady hand and mind, Diane & her husband Dean James have purchased many historical commercial properties in Ybor City and downtown Tampa. The 2 crafty artisans create magic with the making of the historical steel light bridges all along on 7th Ave in Ybor City, Also the fancy flared steel waste baskets throughout Ybor City. Once beginners in the art of glass masters they have ventured into making stain glass windows, sand etching glass and blowing glass. She is a very strong advocate to area history, local preservation groups and safety concerns in Ybor City. A founding member of the GaYBOR District and is a nurse by trade. Diane is very involved with the her grandchildren, their Pennsylvania farm and the many properties she owns and manages.

Meeting Peter for the first time is like a renewal of an old friend you had growing up. He kind of reminds you of a happy expressionist French mime. He bartends at Ybor City’s Social Club, G. Bar & Honey Pot. A big smile always upon his face. Most times with a naughty type smile. He is a professional artisan also in painting pictures and making sculptures.
