All Roads Lead to Tampa: How Tampa is Driving the Future of Transportation

The discussion will focus on the future of Autonomous and Connected Vehicle technology and how the Tampa-led U.S. Department of Transportation Connected Vehicle Pilot Program is helping to lead the charge. Tampa Mayor, Bob Buckhorn, will welcome guests and introduce the panelists.
Panelists include:
- Florida State Senator and Transportation Committee Chair, Jeff Brandes
- Tampa City Council Member and HART Chair, Mike Suarez
- Florida Department of Transportation District 7 Secretary, Paul Steinman
- Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority, CEO, Joe Waggoner

Joe Waggoner is one of Tampa’s most well-respected transportation experts. Before he became the CEO of THEA 9 years ago, he served as Assistant Director for the state of Maryland Department of Transportation’s Office of Planning and Capital Programming, where he was responsible for the development of the Department’s capital programs, including highways, transit, rail, and aviation.
Joe’s knowledge of transportation capital programs, operations and facilities elevated him to the position of Chief of Planning and Development for the Maryland Transportation Authority.
