Chickens…TECO Streetcar… Grant
There seems to be a problem with the wandering chickens in Ybor City. Tampa is a bird sanctuary but the neuvo new residents moving to YC don’t see the feathered friends as friends of the community. The count taken said that 89 chickens are within the YC district.
Councilman Frank Reddick wants them out! While Ybor Merchants Assoc, Save The Chickens Society and Ybor Chamber all are for the staying put of the thrashing yard birds.Over 6000 people have signed the ‘Stay in Ybor’ chicken petition.
Ybor City Development Corp was opposed and a merchant said ,”Looks whats in your glass windows a large ceramic chicken.”
The talks will be decided at July Tampa City Council meeting.
Good news for Tampa TECO Streetcar system and all who ride. Gov Rick Scott helped secure a federal grant of $1.5 million for FREE Ride Tickets, expanded service hours 7 days a week. Also an expansion in adding more miles to the Streetcar system up to Tampa Heights.
The Ybor City Co-Sponsorship Grant is having a new twist. Offering a limited amount of funding to area organizations. Those who receive the grant have to use it to pay for City of Tampa services.
What… Sounds strange a city branch only paying for city services. A fox is in the hen house we hear!
Tampa Pride, Snow on 7th and other Ybor group events that bring in large crowds would be out of luck in any Ybor City sponsorship.

Hong Kong House
We are big fans of Asian Dim Sum. One day we googled dim sun and up popped Hong Kong House. We have since been back many times. We have also tried other dim sum restaurant. Hong Kong House is always the best. The service is great but it the food that’s the big 5 stars. On one visit the server apologized that the kitchen was a little slow. The reason was that they were making the dim sum by hand fresh! WOW what a great reason.

Historic East Ybor and Gary Neighborhood Associations
The June 2018 neighborhood meeting was hosted by Pilar’s Pet Resort. Located at 2609 E 7th Ave in Ybor City. If you live in Ybor City or Gary this is a great way to meet your neighbors and keep updated on your neighborhood. There was discussion about and office building that was turned down by the City. Also talk about a developer who is putting up new fences. The list goes on and on about very interesting things. Join the Neighborhood Facebook page and come to the next meeting.
