8-30-19 Dishing with Mark n Carrie, Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian

As of right now, Thursday, 8-29-19,  5PMish, It looks like Hurricane Dorian will be in Tampa Bay sometime late Sunday/Monday/Tuesday.  If you have not already, NOW is the time to prepare. Here are some tips from us.

  1. Keep your sense of Humor while taking everything serious. BUT Be Safe!
  2. Check on your family & relatives. Know where they will be. And same for you.
  3. Top off the gas tank in your car NOW. Power goes out, Sorry NO gas! If you have a grill do the same thing, get supplied up!
  4. Buy extra water. Remember you can always give it away later. Our lawn guys think we are the best. LOL
  5. Pick up some extra food items that can be stored and do not need to be cooked.
  6. Have a First Aid kit handy even if you travel away from the water.
  7. We are BIG FANS of Ryobi products. The battery packs run everything. In our Ryobi kit we have a flashlight, lantern, fan, radio and the best part is many of then also charge cellphones.
  8. Before the electricity goes off make several pots of strong coffee. Trust us, cold coffee is better than no coffee.

Hurricane Katrina – Labor Day Weekend

Aug, 31, 2005 Katrina made landfall in New Orleans.  We will never forget this day. There was a big T-Dance going on in the courtyard at The Suncoast Resort. People were glued to the TV with tears running down their faces. No one could believe what we were seeing.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – APRIL 21: Diana, Princess Of Wales, Arriving At The British Lung Foundation In Hatton Garden To Be Presented With The First Rose Named After Her. She Is Wearing A Suit Designed By Chanel (Photo by Tim Graham/Getty Images)

We were at Southern Decadence in New Orleans. Suddenly people were running in the street, the clubs, everywhere shouting. SHE IS DEAD!!! SHE IS DEAD!!! The world changed on that day.  Good Bye Diana, Princess of Wales

Hurricane Elena  –  Labor Day Hurricane Flashback: 1985.

We were in college at USF and living at La Plaz Apts. on 15th street and Fletcher Ave.  For many of us it was our 1st major hurricane.  She went around in circles, 90 miles off the coast of Tampa Bay for several days and finally left us. Meanwhile we spent the weekend watching something new called MTV. Carrie had cooked a turkey on our grill and our 15 friends/ nite guests all brought something over. The photo is of flood waters onto Bayshore Blvd. 9/1/1985
