Far Right Pathetic Conservative Christian HATE
For many years (decades) this group have been protesting every Friday Night 10PM in front of Centro Ybor. Their divisive HATEFULL speech has become out of control in Ybor City and has crossed the “Free speech” line. They have personally called me and our friends (both Straight & LGBTA) every name you could think of. From ‘a pathetic excuse for a man’, often yelling ‘faggots’ to many straight friends and visitors to the historic district to often uttered “you are a bum and scum that is going to burn in hell with Hitler.” Children witness the hate as they go out with friends and family to the movie theater plex or Improv Comedy Club. All this sickening chatter for just walking on the city sidewalks in the entertainment district’s streets of Ybor City.
Further they are chasing away needed business to all merchants in the Centro Ybor and Ybor City area. All the work local city’s community government arm at YCDC and community merchants do to create a great experience in Ybor and are stewards of Tampa’s economy.
You don’t see this type of regress and profanity of ‘free speech’ at International Mall’, Hyde Park Village or the Tampa SOHO District?
Last Friday the good people at the Ybor City Wine Bar and the Ybor Community hit the breaking point and confronted them until the police arrived.
This Friday, Nov 25th there is a “Wall of Love Ybor: Protecting LGBTQ and ALL Citizens From Hate Speech Group.”

ATTENTION GaYBOR and YBOR City Business Owners and Residents! It is time to take back our Community! I was almost arrested last night defending the rights of our LGBTQA Community to walk peacefully and enjoy a nice glass of wine outside on 7th Avenue and not get harassed by the so called CHRISTIANS who are standing in front of OUR businesses and not only harassing our guests but engaging and confronting them. This is bad for business and the Image of our beloved YBOR CITY. I call on EVERYONE to finally put a STOP to this.We have talked about this before but it has finally reached a level that is intolerable and unacceptable! Even the head of the POLICE who was there last night said he never saw it like this! I would like to Organize a peaceful protest EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT at 10PM outside of Centro Ybor and in front of 7 Eleven with signs, PRIDE RAINBOW FLAGS and NOISE MAKERS until we put an end to this!!! American Express developed Small Business Saturday the Saturday after Thanksgiving. An effort to have local residents notice the efforts of small family or individuals operated businesses.
The ‘ Mom and Pop ‘ shops whose very presence makes a community and neighborhood, YOUR neighborhood. The Shop Small Movement inspires people to shop with and support these small businesses as well as give back to the places that have given their communities so much.
