TAMPA PRIDE 2016 is less than 8 weeks away. But before our big event we enjoy the other fun 2 month annual Gasparilla Events. 2 super months of Gasparilla fun. The Florida State Fair, Art Festivals, Heritage Festivals and parades throughout Tampa and Ybor City. Events, city issues including Tampa Bay Rays possible move to Tampa and our great mayor wanted a meeting with the TAMPA PRIDE 2016 Board.

    “I want to continue being #1 in Florida  on the Human Rights Campaign recognition listing of Florida cities.” Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said speaking to the board. ” It is very competitive up against St Petersburg and Ft Lauderdale. I always want to be on top!”

    Last year Mayor Bob told the board, “I want to ride the tallest TAMPA PRIDE float!”

     Well, the mayor was in the TAMPA PRIDE Parade last year but walked to greet all the proud 30,000 revelers along 7th Ave. as he is known to always do in area parades.

    Again, Mayor Bob accepted the invitation to be in the March 26 Parade and speak at the opening Festival.

   ” I can tell you this.” he told the TP board. ” I went and called the Mayor of Jacksonville to have him consider adopting the human rights ordinance that is in a stand off. Accept and adopt your human rights ordinance! It is a winner for you”

    It really makes you feel good about an elected official who wants to know what are the concerns of our group, any city questions. The positive accolades that he gave TAMPA PRIDE and the direction of our changing community on his watch.

    Many chatting questions were given and received in the over an hour meeting.

    Our question is, “Where will our great city be in 4 years? And what political podium will Mayor Bob Buckhorn be speaking from? Do we hear…. Florida Governor’s Office!
