Cuban Sandwich Show Festival
This years 3rd Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival has changed to the “National Cuban Sandwich Festival.” Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn has declared in a proclamation the month of March as ‘Cuban Sandwich Month.’
The tasty Cuban invented sandwich’ was re-invented to popular demand in a culinary cultural traditional festival by Tampa’s David Audett. This enrichment of classic Ybor City sandwich has its roots right here in the Tampa bay area and is on stage to being a national competition!.
The now 2 day event had a packed Centennial park with live music including a special performance from a cultural exchange musical Cuban/ U.S. arts exchange the musical talents of Soly & Son, Food Truck Rally, the prized Traditional & Non traditional Cuban Sandwich Contest. Lat year I had the privilege to partake as a judge in this highly competitive North Florida – South Florida war of the “Best Cuban Sandwich Award”. A future competition in 2015 for Best National Cuban Sandwich will have a variety of cities putting on the Ritz for this Top Notch special award.
The attendance level tripled over previous years and is growing. Among the top VIP Celebrity judges this year included Tampa City Council members Yolie Capin, Mike Suarez, and Harry Cohen HCC President Dr. Shawn Robinson, Columbian Restaurateur Casey Gonzmart, the local ABC Action 28 News Team, La Gazetta publisher Patrick Mantiega, YCDC Manager Vince Pardo, Political Publicist Anna Cruz, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor and a dozen other VIP’s participated.
One thing at the festival, no one left hungary!
