BLIND ACTIVIST OFFERS CONCERT
BLIND ACTIVIST OFFERS CONCERT
As an artist, Marion Gwizdala communicates meaning far beyond the words he sings. As an advocate, he communicates a message of social change towrd full participation of the disabled in society on terms of equality. His message penetrates further than the ears into the consciousness of the listener.
“This isn’t an act,” Gwizdala explains, “It is my life!”
Marion Gwizdala is blind and serves as the President of the National Association of Guide Dog Users (NAGDU), a strong and proud division of the National Federation of the Blind. Marion is a published author, accomplished public speaker, and experienced workshop facilitator in the areas of legal and psycho-social aspects of blindness and service animals. He has been involved in several high profile legal cases both as a complainant and an advocate. He has been instrumental in creating civil rights legislation in several states and is a recognized leader in the blindness and service/guide dog users’ movements. Marion blends his knowledge and real-life experience with a touch of humor to shift the social consciousness of his audiences. His shows are more a dialogue than a performance and no two are exactly alike! Marion uses his shows to support his work with the National Association of Guide Dog Users.
On Friday, June 22 at 7:00 pm, Marion will appear at Unity North Tampa to perform one of his unique shows. The suggested admission is $20, but more or less is appreciatively accepted. Donations are tax-deductible as contributions to a charitable organization. Unity North Tampa is located at 13540 North Florida Avenue, just north of Fletcher Avenue. A meet & greet with Marion and his wife, Merry, will follow the concert. For more information, you can visit

Less than one week away until the premiere of QUEEN ON THE NIGHT. And here are the contest details And prizes.
DETAILS: This is NOT an amateur Drag contest..it is Open to all..Amateur or veteran, Drag Queens, Club Kids, Drag Kings, and Performance Artist.. IT MATTERS NOT. What does matter is that you stick to the challenge set for each month. You can do a one man show or give us a production comp
lete with dancers… Whatever it takes to stand out to the audience and sell YOU.. (please remember that even if you don’t win one month, you can always compete the next and just like contestants on American idol have gone on to enjoy success even tho they haven’t won due to the exposure their given, You too could use it this as an opportunity to give your talent a platform). The idea is to get performers spotlighted and give them a chance to work.
Every month, we are going to Video tape the performers; pre-show, on the night of the event…We ask that all contestants be there by 8:30 for filming..You are going to tell a little about yourself and sell yourself on camera…And we will use the video as your intro when bringing you out.
8:30 REAL TIME NOT DRAG TIME..if you are not there in time to be Filmed, you can still go on, You just won’t have the video intro, which would KINDA SUCK…since we’re not just trying tosell your talent, but develop a connection between you and the audience.
Contest starts at 10pm. Judges will not determine the winner UNLESS, there is a tie between performers in audience votes…the judges however will critique each performer.. please have your music on a clean Cd, don’t bring your music on a phone and ask me to play it through some computer or whatever ..I’m not going through all that..PROFESSIONAL is the key. Needless to say, the song has to be a ROCK SONG, or A ROCK ANTHEM, old or new..BUT YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF YOU COME WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE CHALLENGE OF THE MONTH, no matter how fierce the production.
CONTEST PRIZES:
1.Winner receives $100 night of contest..(instant gratification)
2.Paid booking at Liquid Tampa (at same pay rate-$100)
3.Be the host of the next month contest. (this serves to inspire the contestants, of that current contest)
We have a lot of Crazy ideas brewing for the upcoming Challenges..so strap in..THIS RIDE HAS JUST BEGUN!!
